Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has named Michael Reney its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), where he will be responsible for all financial operations including accounts payable, financial planning and reporting, payroll, capital asset management, tax and general and patient accounting. He will start later this fall.
"Financial management of healthcare has become increasingly complex," said Edward J. Benz, Jr., MD, president and CEO of Dana-Farber. "Michael's substantial financial experience, both in health care delivery and in research, as well as his ability to identify business opportunities and develop long-term strategic plans, will make him an a critical contributor to the leadership of the Institute."
Reney has more than 25 years of experience working in the leading hospitals and health care systems in Boston, most recently serving as senior vice president and CFO at Brigham and Women's Health Care (BWHC).
Reney started his career at Deloitte & Touche, LLP. He began working in health care at Brigham and Women's Hospital as the Accounting Manager. His extensive experience includes serving as assistant controller at Massachusetts General Hospital and a number of increasingly advanced roles in the Partners Healthcare system including, senior manager of Academic Medical Center Accounting and director of corporate accounting and financial reporting. He then was the executive director for finance/controller at Brigham and Women's Health Care.

Reney has a bachelor of science in Accountancy from Bentley College and a master of business administration from the University of Massachusetts in Boston.
He is a member of Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Healthcare Roundtable for Chief Financial Officers. In addition to his professional roles, Reney has served on a number of Boards including, Fenway Community Health Center, Medical Academic and Scientific Community Organization (MASCO), Brigham Research Foundation and Longwood Medical Energy Corporation.
